North Central Public Power District is building a new substation northeast of the Page corner. This project was part of NCPPD’s four-year work plan. This substation will be called the Johnson Ash Grove Hall Substation. For the old timers out there, the sub is across the road to the east of Ash Grove Hall. NCPPD, along with RVW Engineering out of Columbus, NE, recognized this location as one that will allow for added load growth in the north and west part of the district. It will also create back feeds for three substations. The substations gaining back feeds are Kennedy, Knoxville, and Page Rural Substations. This creates a more robust electric system helping all NCPPD customers. North Central line crews have begun to build seven miles of distribution line out of the Johnson Ash Grove Hall substation. NCPPD plans to energize the Johnson Ash Grove Hall Substation in the spring of 2026.
